Jasmin Schifferstein

Hi, I am Jasmin, throughout the Creative Media Project module, I have used skills which I have learned throughout my four year university journey. I decided to work with a client to gain industry experience.

I have worked with Guyshi to create social media content for them in short video form as well as photo form. I have a passion about delivering high-quality digital marketing, photography, graphic design and videography. I believe in building a strong relationship with clients, working tirelessly to understand their vision and needs and delivering personalised solutions to help them achieve their goals.

As well as starting to develop specialised content for Guyshi I took the chance to develop my content creation skills and product photography skills.

Guyshi Social Media and Content Creation

The overall aim of the Creative Media Project was utilizing previous skill sets which were developed throughout previous modules which were taught throughout the four years of university. This project has been dedicated to social media content creation, through the use of photography and video assets. Having the client Guyshi, a Japanese charcoal restaurant located in Sheffield city centre it gave the chance to explore video and photo form of content creation. Capturing the venue, beverages, food aspect alongside with their delivery service to bring the most out of their social media presence and help boost their following.

Strength within Sisters App

As the creative media project is a chance to showcase all the skills and abilities developed during the duration of the digital media production course, this opened a vast range of opportunities and directions that could be taken allowing for a lot of creative freedom. Initially the idea for this module was to create promotional material for a book launch, alongside producing the cover designs for different countries targeting different cultures through various marketing strategies. However, after struggling to find the right genre and author, the decision to completely switch ideas and create a women’s exercise app was made. This was the right decision as a big gap in the women’s fitness
industry was found.

Heidi Langton

Hi, I’m Heidi, a dynamic individual with a huge passion for creativity and visual storytelling.

I recently completed a BA (Hons) degree in Digital Media Production at Sheffield Hallam University as a mature student. This has enabled me to acquire a robust skill set in video production, photography, and design as well as expanding on creative skills I had from pursuing personal projects and independent study.

Prior to my academic journey, I cultivated valuable skills in sales and account management, where I gained experience in client-facing roles and developed my communication abilities. This blend of creative expertise and business acumen allows me to approach projects with a comprehensive understanding of client needs and project requirements.

Personal Branding

The aim of the creative media project is to produce a portfolio of digital content in response to a brief, utilising skills learned and developed on the Digital Media Production degree course.

Maggie Walsh

Hi,

I’m Margaret Walsh and I love graphic design and my best skills are on Adobe Illustrator. Graphic Design and Illustrator is my favourite work to do because you can create really fun and creative stuff, but I love expanding my skills using other software. I would like my photography and photoshop skills to improve as I love taking pictures and editing them.

I am from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire but would love to travel and see differing cultures and broaden my knowledge. My dream job would be to create graphics for clothing or posters.

SPUD Clothing Brand

The creative media project is about showcasing the skills developed throughout the three-year course. For this module we had double the amount of time allotted to the rest of the projects, this means we had to create a large portfolio of work. The decided project was to create a streetwear clothing brand. Creating a clothing brand entails a lot of work as you must create a whole brand guide.

This includes a couple of logos, colour scheme, audience research, product mock-ups, social media, photography and much more. Creating a detailed branding guide was going to be a lot of work but enough skills had been established using differing Adobe software’s that it was possible. The reason this was the chosen project was the ‘Graphic Design’ module in first year was intriguing and interesting, the work created for that was about a record shop and this time I wanted to create something I have always been interested in, which is clothing. As graphic t-shirts are popular right now, this project would be a good way to develop on peoples taste and create a fun and unique brand.

Guyshi App

The primary objective of the Creative Media Project was to apply and expand on the skills introduced and developed throughout the Digital Media Production course. Because of the open brief’s nature, it allowed the ideal opportunity to gain valuable experience by collaborating with a client, the Sheffield based Guyshi Restaurant, which specialises in Japanese cuisine by catering to refined diners seeking luxury dining experiences.

The project aimed to improve Guyshi Restaurant’s dining experience by developing an app prototype. Using digital skills, the app aimed to provide a seamless experience, which serves as an extension of the restaurant’s brand, catering to evolving client needs. The platform included a digital menu, bookings, events, and promotions. Customers could browse easily through an intuitive digital interface, complete with detailed descriptions of each culinary offering and vibrant visuals, eliminating the need for cumbersome paper menus.

Frontline Therapy

A number of assignments were completed within the Creative Media Project (CMP), in order to both showcase and develop skill sets in subject areas of particular interest.

The first task was a website design project for “Frontline Therapy” (a counselling service dedicated to those working within the emergency services). Designing the website from scratch (alongside the client, Claire Crilly), provided an opportunity to use personal creativity to enhance Claire’s online presence whilst advising on vital factors to include site maps, logos, colour schemes and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). The aims for this brief were to improve on website design skills, use of a new software (whilst exploring its benefits and limitations (WordPress) and applying SEO techniques in order to market the company effectively, so as to achieve a higher search engine ranking.

Four Seasons Golf Centre

The second project was a social media marketing campaign and photography proposal, for a local golf driving range, “Four Seasons Golf Centre” (FSGC). The objectives for this brief were to create social media posts that adhere to the brand guidelines and photography portfolios containing both product and general images, to be used in conjunction with Instagram posts (whilst also creating a catalogue of future website images). Assisting the management of the Instagram account required research into the target audience as well as the platform, in order to assess what type of content and time/s of day would promote the account in an effective way. The social media graphics took inspiration from other golf-themed accounts so as to appreciate what creates a stand-out and engaging look for users. The photography called for extensive research and advice from lecturers when photographing specific products (drivers, hybrids, irons, hats, gloves, balls etc.) being mindful of glossy and reflective surfaces.
