Scott Allison is a versatile photographer with experience in a wide range of photographic genres, including documentary, street, and contemporary landscape photography. He also has a keen interest in the use of film photography, as it allows him to express a high level of precision and focus, something he thoroughly enjoys.
“The State of Britain”
In 2023, a major strike or protest has taken place every other day fighting for varying social, economic and political causes. The State of Britain aims to document and capture the people who make up these protests. Having an objective approach to each protest, where it has been possible to capture both sides of the debate, is a key concern. In the context of Brexit, Covid-19, climate change and an ongoing cost of living crises this project navigates these complex issues to give a picture of the events in cities such as Sheffield and Manchester during February to April 2023. This project has covered a range of public protests including teachers, junior doctors and nurses on strike to pro-refuge protests and anti-refuge campaigns.
