Elliot Evans

At the start of the year, Elliot embarked on one of his biggest journeys to date, the location was Western Africa. He wanted to document how locals benefit from a railway network. Mauritania has the longest freight train in the world, the locals use this to import and export goods necessary for their survival. To people these trains may seem archaic, however, the people of Nouadibou re-purpose what is essentially a iron ore freight train transport goods inland, but also to migrate to other parts of the World in searching for a better life as this region is impoverished. These arduous journeys are fraught with many dangers – this is the risk the people of Mauritania are to take to provide a better life for their families
