This 2D project follows a bird on its accidental adventure to an underground city. Pollution rots the air, causing the avian to fall from the sky to an uncertain fate. Luckily, our young protagonist appears from the shadows to bring the bird back to the surface, unknowing of what the overworld looks like in humanities absence, she is in for a pleasant and well deserved surprise.

Hi, I’m Megan and I study animation at Sheffield Hallam with a special interest in 2D environment design. I’ve always enjoyed art, taking it at my GCSEs with a focus on landscapes on plant studies, as inspired my Margaret Me, but it took a back burner during A Levels. That was until Covid hit around when it was time to start picking unis. While this course was not initially my first choice, only coming across it while frantically going through clearing as a result of the skewered grade predictions I first received. I very quickly became accustomed to the idea, seeing a lot of potential in the course and what it had to offer for myself. I did eventually get my predicted grades and had the opportunity to follow my initial university offers, but I chose to do this course as I fell back in love with art during isolation, with a new budding interest in film and cinematography. With this project, I hope to demonstrate my love of the medium and transport my audience to a new world through my background designs, incorporating my roots in plant composition.
