In the shadows, she dances; a whisp of light seeks joy in the gloom by reaching for light. Each piece of light she gains slowly ebbs away her form as she dances in and out of black. A hand drawn animation in chalk, with soft piano keys accompanying this atmospheric, gentle animation.
Working with a strong focus on natural textures, traditional and digital blended techniques, Alexandra is a 2D/stop motion 3rd year Animation student who created her final degree animation by hand on an old school chalk board.
With a love for traditional methods, much of her work features traditional materials such as chalk, charcoal, ink and collage, often digitally edited to create unique old world design. Her final degree film uses this style to a create a mystic and abstract final film, drawn entirely frame by frame in chalk and photographed into a film. The effect created draws upon her inspiration from mythology and hints to the audience of a hidden myth between light.
