Orc

I have just completed my final year studying Game Art at Sheffield Hallam University. My area of interest lies within Character Modelling – my ultimate goal is to work as a character/creature artist within the games industry! I especially enjoy working in a stylized manner, and take a lot of inspiration from fantasy and creature concepts.

For my final project, I created a game-ready character model of an Orc (based on concept art by Zeen Chin). All of the assets were modelled from scratch in Zbrush, retopologized + UV mapped and rigged within Maya, textured in Substance Painter 3D and rendered in Marmoset Toolbag. I faced many new challenges throughout this project and learnt a lot of new processes along the way. If I were to repeat this project, I would dedicate much more time to the texturing and rigging. I also wish I had noticed sooner that I made the eyes far too big – the Orc looks permanently shocked! Overall I am pleased with my progress over the last few years, but I know there is a lot more for me to learn and so I look forward to getting on with some personal projects very soon!
